Revive Superfoods

Over the past 3 months, I have been doing intermittent fasting almost everyday. This means whenever I stop eating at night, I don’t again for 12 hours. If you’re not familiar with intermittent fasting there are multiple ways people are doing it. One of the most popular ways is the 16:8 rule which is where you would fast for 16 hours and only eat for 8. I tried this, and it’s not for me…. 14 hours is about the max that I can go without feeling like the fast is negatively affecting me (I really like to eat LOL).

I decided to start intermittent fasting to help control my weight especially during Quarantine even-though I was doing this before. When I intermittent fast, I wake up, drink 16 ounces of water before any other liquid including coffee (I think of myself as a plant, I need water first). Then I drink coffee while doing my morning journal and morning yoga which I’ve talked about before. I do not put anything in my coffee other than cinnamon. If you’ve never tried cinnamon in your coffee or latte, add it to your list of things to try. Cinnamon has crazy good health benefits (including lower blood sugar), and also give the coffee a little extra flavor.

I don’t really notice being hungry at all during my fast. I drink tons of liquid (coffee & water), and I work out so I am staying busy. A few benefits I have noticed from fasting are more energy especially during my work outs in the morning, less inflammation, and less bloating plus being able to manage my weight. I used to think I could never eat a carb or have a glass of wine, but I now I feel like I can and that my diet has a little more wiggle room.

Recently, I have really been focusing on how to “break my fast” meaning the first thing I decide to eat. In a dream world I’d make a fresh squeezed juice everyday, but that just isn’t going to happen so I have found a wonderful alternative.
