Gab's Birthday Weekend

A few months ago I was contacted via Instagram from a place called the Dove Inn in Golden, Colorado. They were looking for influencers to come stay in their boutique hotel. I was a little nervous to agree to this because I had never really done any influencer partnerships like this before. Like all things, I did my research… this boutique hotel looked like a ‘must stay’ kinda place so I decided to go for it.

When I agreed to the partnership, I decided this would be perfect spot to stay for my best friend Gab’s birthday. If you have been following me on social media or just reading along on my blog, you know that Gab plays a huge part in my life. I could get into a whole blog post on all that Gab does for me (including editing my blog posts), but instead I’ll just hope you all have a friend like Gab in your life, and if you don’t join the #ownyourdifferent Community and maybe you’ll find your new bestie.

Anyways, back to Gab’s birthday weekend. The only thing I had planned until literally the day before was the stay at the Dove Inn…. everything else I figured out at 3pm on Friday, January 10th when Gab was coming up the next day to Denver to celebrate. I am a HUGE procrastinator when it comes to planning my social life, but when the time starts to run out… let’s just say I get shit done.

Gab and I neither one are “partiers”. I, at most ,may consume an adult beverage once a week so drinking and partying as a celebration was just immediately not an option. In the past we’ve had our hair done, nails done, nice dinners… you know real best friend and girl time things. This year, I decided we should do massages. Originally, I wanted to Tea and massages at the Brown Palace before heading out to Golden. But well… my procrastination bit me on the booty here because that’s not an option one day in advance (LOL). The lady I spoke with at the Brown Palace referred me to the Ritz because it’s pretty close location wise and they have more massage therapists. I called the Ritz they booked us at the time we wanted, no problem, and I figured we would just really decide on the rest together day of.

Gab and I had the best experience at the Ritz and I think it needs to become a normal thing. My massage was perfect, the facilities are great, and well obviously I LOVE spending time with my best friend celebrating her. After the massages it was off to the Dove Inn in Golden.

The Dove Inn so incredibly unique. This is not an AirBnb (y’all know I am not NOT an AirBnb fan) and this is not a Bed and Breakfast. This is a boutique hotel that is self service which means, you receive a text day of with the main door code, and a code to your room. It’s so efficient, and I live for efficient. Gab and I got to the Dove Inn when it was already dark since our massages were late in the day. The Dove Inn was so easy to get in, and explore the beautiful boutique hotel. We stayed in the Queen Anne Room. I could’ve stayed on the couch in that room all day with laptop and just wrote for hours on my blog. Not to mention the bed was unbelievable, so so comfortable…. like so comfortable that I wanted to write down brand of mattress so I could buy one for my home comfortable.

Anyways a few fun facts about the Dove Inn is that this hotel is an old Victorian home that has been remodeled. There is a full coffee and kombucha bar available 24/7 plus breakfast in the fridge the next morning… talk about all the things I love. The coffee and kombucha bar is the neatest thing I’ve ever seen at anywhere I’ve stayed. There are so many options on how to prepare your coffee, there is even a Nitro Cold Brew on tap!

The Dove Inn is also in walking distance from some yummy restaurants. Gab and I ended up eating a place call Indulge just a few blocks away from the Dove Inn, talk about convenient. I had a shrimp scampi (so freakin good) and Gab had gnocchi. We shared Creme Brulee which is Gab’s favorite and just had a wonderful relaxing meal. We had fully bellies, relaxed bodies, and headed back to the Dove Inn for a lovely evening and just quality time. I value quality time so much. It is the most important thing to me, so spending the weekend with Gab celebrating her made my heart so full.

Also, if you’ve never stayed in Golden, you’re missing out. There is an indescribable view of the mountains, fresh air (sorry Denver your air is not fresh and crisp like Golden), and it has a small town vibe which I love since I am from a small town. Gab and I celebrated her birthday the previous year in Golden, too! We made candles at cute place called Mountain Luxe Candles which is also just a few blocks down from the Dove Inn.

Everything Gab and I did in Golden would be perfect for Valentine’s or Galentine’s or the perfect staycation.

XO,

Madison
