Fall in Love with Everyday

A while back, I was reading my daily devotional, and it discussed everyday life and how the majority of our life is made up of ordinary days. That hit me in a certain type of way, because I had just recently been talking to Gab about it. It has made me think a lot about being able to be okay with the ordinary.

The majority of our lives are made up of just another day. If you look at the calendar, the bulk of the year isn’t a holiday, or your birthday, or your anniversary, or a day off from work….. so what does this mean? This means we have to love our everyday life, which can be difficult at times. I know there are days for me when I am so busy and filled with anxiety and stress that it is hard to love my ordinary life.

When I feel this way, I try to practice gratitude, usually as I’m rushing to an appointment or meeting in full transparency. However, it’s not always easy to practice gratitude when you feel like your day is a complete shit show. The gratitude I remind myself of at these specific times is how grateful am I that so many people have an interest in my business.

I have really started working on shifting my perspective these last few months when it comes to everyday life. Sure traffic, bad weather, working out, stress, etc… aren’t normally fun, but are typically somewhere in everyday life. I should also include, don’t go over-fill your schedule with crap you absolutely hate or people you absolutely do not like, but feel obligated to see… this is for the days that are just busy with things that will help you or have to be done, like taxes for example. Here are some perspective shifts I’ve been trying to incorporate to my life regarding these specific things.

Traffic: Instead of thinking “OMG! Why aren’t we moving?!” …. maybe think, “Wow, this is perfect time to decompress by listening to my favorite song or call and catch up with family.”

Bad Weather: (This one gets me) Instead of thinking, “Great it’s snowed every day this week, and I’m freezing my bum off when I take my dog out.”… Try “I have a home that keeps me warm, and our environment needs the moisture for a beautiful spring and summer. Snow really can be a blessing.”

Working Out: Instead of thinking “This sucks, is it over yet?”… shift your attitude to, “ I am moving my body, doing the best I can, and doing it to live my longest life.”

Stress: (This one also gets me) Usually I think, “Oh I’m so stressed. I don’t know if I can handle all this.”… When I feel this, I’ve started telling myself, “You’re strong, you’ve handled so much more before, take it one step at a time. You got this.”

It’s so easy to let ordinary life be a drag, you don’t need a reason to put on makeup, do your hair, wear your favorite outfit, or drink champagne. It doesn’t have to be a holiday for you to be excited about life. Even though life is mostly made up of ordinary days, that doesn’t mean they have to feel that way. I hope these tips help you fall a little more in love with the ordinary, and that they help you feel extraordinary.

XO,

Madison
